Family Tration Since 1889 ....

Family traditions

My Grandfather Uberto Di Iacovo, son of Vincenzo Di Iacovo was born in Rome in 1925 and the 10th son out of a family of 11 children. Since he was a child he demonstrated an interest in the type of work his father did. His passion for history and its art guided him to deepen his studies and in his free time he helped his father. He helped some of the first tourists visit the ruins of the “eternal city”. Between 1945 and 1975, my grandfather became one of the first tour guides in Rome.

My father Fabio Di Iacovo was born in Rome in 1959 and as ironic as it may seem he too was born the 10th son out of a family with 11 children. He used to laugh and call “destiny”. He was extremely close with his father and never lost the occasion to learn a secret or two about the profession in 1982 when my grandfather decided to retire, my father took over the family business. At that point, my father decided to take the business one step further and changed the license that was only to be used for cab service into a Limousine and Cab Service. He made excellent use of his contacts with various Italian Tour Operators supplying services in English for private guided tours around Rome.

Ivano Di Iacovo was born in Rome in 1974 in "Via Della Cauerelia", 200 metres from the Basilica of St. Peter's where most of our family still resides. After obtaining my diploma for art teacher, I moved to England for almost a year in order to perfect my English. When I returned to Italy, I decided to obtain the license for limousine service so I could help my father who was at that time still working. Guided by my passion and devotion for my birth city, I found the history to be completely irresistible and not only the principal monuments but also for those specific corners and spots that generally visitors do not notice or even know about. So in order to transmit my great enthusiasm in 1997, I founded the DriverGuideService Private Tours.
