SQUARES & FOUNTAINS
Squares and Fountains - Half Day Walking tour -
The principal squares and the more attractive fountains have been chosen in order to explore in detail.
We will leave from The Spanish Square and its famous staircase and its “Fountain of the Baraccacia” (translated the ugly boat) created by Bernini, when he was only 17 years of age. Then onto The Fountain of Trevi, the most famous and captivating of all of Rome’s fountains.
The Fountain of Trevi was a distinctive masterpiece created in the latter part of the Renaissance. Here you can gaze upon this artistic phenomenon and take the time to bask in all of its glory; watching as the clear waters gush over the glistening marble.
And after we have expressed our deepest wishes and desires and left them to become reality at the bottom of the fountain, we will penetrate into the surroundings until arriving at the Pantheon, the architectural miracle requested by Hadrian in 120 A.D., still in perfect condition after 2000 years.
We will be able to see the tomb of the great Rafael and marvel at the magnitude of the dome which is suspended between the heavens and this immortal land called Rome! Next stop? Navona Square!
Navona Square is just one more place where Bernini decided to leave his golden touch
It will be love at first sight when you lay your eyes upon her.
Her uniqueness in shape, along with Navona’s charming fountains will enchant even the most difficult visitor. “Fountain of the Four Rivers” which is located on the footprint of the famous square tantalizes our creative senses leaving us in awe about the potential of what one man has the ability to create with his bare hands. We can fully understand why Bernini was so highly regarded by the church as he took stone and breathed life into it…evident in such masterpieces.
We will end our visit poetically by sitting and savoring in a delicious Italian ‘gelato’ to tantalize our taste-buds while enjoying the charming view.
